FAQ

Staff and Patron Frequently Asked Questions

When is the app coming?

Soon! Stay tuned for more information.

What can the app do?

You can store your cards, search the catalog, place holds, pay fines, see what you have checked out and when it is due, check out items on your phone while visiting the library, and more!

Can I use multiple cards?

Yes! You can store and pull up multiple cards, though you will have to switch between cards to place holds (see tutorial).

What libraries are included?

All Lakeland libraries will be available for searching, placing holds, etc.

How will I know about holds?

You will still receive your usual notifications by phone, text, or emails, but you can also view your holds list on the app.

Can I see my reading history?

Yes, but you have to enable this in your Borrowing History. This is due to the Michigan Library Privacy act.

Current Known Issues

Self Checkout
Items bring up an error stating did not check out the item and to see a service desk – some items producing this error will check out despite the error, others will not.
This seems to be an issue with Sierra/III and is being investigated. III is currently working with BiblioCommons to implement a fix for this issue – ETA of fix is Q1 2025. This issue is product-wide.
Newer iPhones won’t scan the barcodes for checkout. iPhone 13 works fine but iPhone 14 and 15 will not scan barcodes. There may be a correlation here between users who have glass screen protectors and those having issues. This issue is product-wide.

Out Loc
Out Loc in Sierra is currently set to 0, rather than the mobile app stat group.
This is due with concerns with mapping and maintenance with the stat codes. BiblioCommons is working with III regarding the API. BiblioCommons is also working on an internal reporting function that would allow the data to be downloaded from BiblioCommons directly. BiblioCommons expects this to rollout in Q4.
